Hey, I’m Jay.
A UK based content designer with a background in housing, healthcare and wellbeing.
I create simple, accessible, user-centred content that makes information easier to understand.
Things I do
Content design
Designing content that meets user needs. Writing in plain English. Writing microcopy for systems and tools. Reviewing and editing existing content. Testing and iterating content with users.
Simplify complex things
Getting into the detail and bringing out the key points that people actually need to know.
Use all the tools
All the things you’d expect: Figma, Userzoom, Dynamics365, Sharepoint, Office365, Zoom, Google Suite, MIRO, Mural, Asana, DevOps, Adobe suite.
Taxonomy and labelling
Organising and categorising information in a structured way, like sorting things into different groups or labeling them with appropriate tags.
Conversation design
Creating engaging and effective conversations between customers and chatbots, ensuring a seamless, enjoyable experience.
User research and testing
Working with tools like optimal workshop and userzoom. Running user resarch sessions on web content, wireframes and prototypes. Usability tests, acceptance testing and evidence gathering.
Why I’d like to help Flo
I have experience in the healthcare and wellbeing sectors.
I have a passion for health and wellbeing both in my personal life and through my active involvement in the holistic health community.
I also have experience creating learning content for doctors and nurses at a healthcare staffing agency, ensuring they stay informed and compliant.
Supporting my wife, a clinical reflexologist and holistic therapist, we plan and execute wellness events, including menopause awareness bootcamps.
It’s not just all digital and online experience - I spent several years experience responding to 999 calls at West Midlands Ambulance Service, so I have first hand experience in providing direct patient care too.
I excel at empathy.
I love spending some time researching and putting myself in someone else’s shoes. I have experience in explaining a wide range of subjects taking into account accessibility and neurodiversity.
I’ve also experienced first hand the effects of dealing with badly presented or in accurate information relating to healthcare. This has made me passionate about making a difference.
I have over a decade of experience in creating coaching content, and leading a content team.
Working for one of England’s largest provider of social rented homes. I had a variety of roles over the years which means I’ve worked on:
digital transformation - leading user-focused knowledge creation and developing a community of content owners to manage and update content
regeneration - holding user research workshops for internal and external stakeholders.
communications - owning the organisations style guide and creating new guidelines for brand voice, content patterns and information architecture.
